Two Lenormand Lost-Item Readings: Home and Away

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Following up on my failed lost-item reading from yesterday, I again used the “movable house” method with location meanings from the expanded list below and created two new readings for the same question: “Where is my specialty grilling cookware?” These “house” cards are randomly-drawn cards that serve as “location indicators” telling me where to look for a missing item; I originally used 25 of them in a 5×5 array but figured 9 is more than enough for inside the home and, outside the home, 21 adequately fill out all likely “near and far” locations for the full range of cardinal and ordinal compass-points. I use a single significator card as the “locator,” pulling until it appears in the spread, and don’t read any of the cards in the conventional sense.

The first reading assumes that the lost items are still in the house, so I’m using the “Inside the Home” meanings for the “house” cards. (Note that there is more than a little “free-association” in some of these meanings.)

First I selected a large-format Lenormand deck, shuffled it and laid out nine cards face-up in a 3×3 pattern. These cards “set the stage” for where I should look inside the house. The positions also include some qualifiers that suggest whether the items are elevated or near the floor, and whether they are visible or concealed

Once again, I chose the Whip from a second, standard-sized deck as the significator card for my missing cookware. I left it in the deck, shuffled and began laying cards on top of the “house” positions until the Whip appeared. (I could have used any card for this since it’s only a “pointer.”)

It fell in the lower-right corner of the layout, suggesting “in the Northwest corner, near the floor and concealed,” and it sits on the house of the Storks, which in my list implies “in the garage” (expressing “movement”) or “in a white room.” The interior of my garage is painted white so this seemed like a promising start. However, the shelves in that corner of the garage were recently reorganized and it was easy to see that the items aren’t there.

The second reading presupposes that they are somewhere outside the home. To my knowledge they haven’t been inside the house except for cleaning for a couple of years, residing in the grill cabinet after my wife banished them from the kitchen closet, and I had no reason to believe they wouldn’t still be there when I went to use them last week-end. However, they weren’t and I don’t recall moving them.

This time I dealt the large-format “house” cards in a three-tiered, 21-position layout to show whether the missing items are “Local” (within the boundaries of the property); “Nearby” (in the neighborhood or other known environment); or “Distant” (they could be anywhere). I again used the Whip as the significator.

The Whip landed in the very first position of the “house” pattern, making it unnecessary to deal any more cards. This position identifies a distant location in a southerly direction from my home; the Sun occupies this house, conveying the idea of “out in the open; in plain site.” My current thinking is that the grill cabinet (which stays outside all year) may have been raided by local homeless people since the items are highly serviceable for cooking on an open fire: a cast-iron griddle, a large stainless-steel grilling skillet with folding wooden handle; and a stainless-steel fish griddle. There is a sizable homeless encampment to the Southeast of our location at a distance of a couple of miles, and I would certainly think we are within foraging range for them. “Out in the open” would describe most of the homeless camps I’ve seen. At this point the greatest likelihood is that these items have passed out of my control, so there is no point in doing any more readings.

In conclusion, although it holds promise I have yet to see any real legitimacy in this approach compared to horaray astrology but, as John Frawley says, finding lost items is a 50/50 proposition: either an object is where the reading says or it isn’t. It’s pointless to say “I almost found it that time, Mary!”
