“The Best Laid Plans . . .”
Here’s a holiday gift for you (note all the festive red and green). The layout is intended to emulate real-life situations, in which unexpected “detours” often occur that increase the complexity, difficulty and uncertainty of the road ahead. It will yield a reading of between five and nine cards, depending on the mix of upright and reversed cards, the latter of which indicate the “hiccups” that might be encountered in the progress of the situation, often taking it far afield from the original plan (the “bypass” condition). A five-card run of upright cards would likely be uneventful as far as any redirection of the energy shown by the cards, which typically occurs with reversal. A nine-card run with mixed orientation, on the other hand, could be maddeningly challenging for the querent to handle (think “herding cats”), going back and forth between the ordinary and the anomalous.
This spread is best used for complex circumstances; one example might be business scenarios with many competing inputs and agendas. If you don’t read reversals, reveal the cards as instructed and just turn any reversed ones upright at the end.
