A Seven-Day Mixed Media Card Selection Method
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Here is a card-selection technique that uses a large, randomly-pulled template from which to select seven cards for a weekly reading by throwing a single “token” or “pointer” seven times (I used alphabet beads as described below). My “casting surface” was a repurposed pizza box, but any rectangular container with sides will suffice. My particular box accommodated three rows of five cards each (15 total), which is enough to assure randomness, but I would have preferred more. I cast the beads one at a time, beginning with the Moon (Monday) bead and finishing with the Sunday (Sun) bead, and didn’t get any repeats, but if I did I would have rolled again. Unfortunately, these translucent beads don’t photograph well, so some of the pictures are less than ideal.
Begin by shuffling a tarot deck with the intention of creating a seven-card line spread for the upcoming week. Deal equal-length rows of cards face-down in the prepared container.
Take any light-weight token to use as a “pointer.” I happened to have alphabet beads from my astro-lithomancy project so I used those. (It should be lightweight so it doesn’t disturb the cards; a bingo token would be a good choice.) Throw the token onto the template and note which card it lands on.
Here is an example showing my Wednesday (Mercury) throw. After a card is chosen by the toss, remove it from the template and place it in the seven-card row, going from left-to-right (Monday-to-Friday).
Here is my complete toss for the week beginning Monday, December 9, 2024.
Here is the completed seven-card reading.
