A “Fork in the Road” Supplemental Outcome Spread
As a rule, I have no use for “clarifying” cards since I think they can encourage laziness in not trying very hard to get our head around the original pull if we don’t like it or can’t immediately understand it. (My motto in this regard is “More is not necessarily better.”) But sometimes I will formally build them into a spread when I think they can add value in very specific, narrowly-defined circumstances. Here is one such instance.
Deal one pair or both sets of “Resolution” and “Supplemental Outcome”cards as necessary, but only if the Probable Outcome card is unclear or out-of-sync with the rest of the reading. Depending on whether or not you have to extend the outcome, this will produce a three-card, five-card or seven-card scenario.
Note that the Probable Outcome card, the “Resolution” card in each case, and the applicable “Supplemental Outcome” card can be read according to Elemental Dignities, with the potency and anticipated effectiveness of the “Resolution” card to be adjusted as reflected by its elemental endowment. This can change the perspective regarding which approach (active or passive) is best for getting from “Point A” (Probable Outcome) to “Point B” (Supplemental Outcome).
