2024 Celtic Wheel of the Year Layout

AUTHOR’S NOTE: For the next solar cycle, I chose not to pull random cards to represent the Celtic year, but rather to use the tarot trump cards associated with the eight Celtic holidays and the four zodiacal ingress dates for the Sun, thus creating a universal layout with slightly more irregular sequencing than the typical twelve-month zodiacal pattern. (I decided to stay with the astrological correspondences for Strength and Justice.) The Card of the Year at the center is based on the numerological reduction of “2024.”

For each of the twelve monthly and semi-monthly periods, I will pull three cards to suggest the background theme, situational environment or “tone” for that span of time, with the Card of the Year as the “big picture” backdrop. I used the Druid Craft Tarot for the Celtic holidays and the Tarot of the Old Path for the solar ingress dates and the Card of the Year. The three-card pull for December-January was done with the wonderfully rustic Anna K Tarot.

Monthly Reading for December 2023 — January 2024

The transition into 2024 looks to be a time of stepping off in a new direction with no turning back, although the 7 of Cups suggests an ambiguous outcome in the short term. With Strength as the “anchor” I don’t anticipate being overly confused by it. Judgement (Primal Fire) as the central “keynote card” is elementally cooperative with the Devil (Capricorn) and Strength (Leo), so the rest appears to be low-level “background noise” that provides narrative linkage and minor predictive detail.
